Northumberland County Council 2025/26 Budget Consultation

Closes 28 Jan 2025

Opened 17 Dec 2024

Overview

Introduction

As the Council considers its budget plans, residents are being asked to tell us their priorities.

Each year the Council must set a balanced budget, which sets out its spending and investment plans and how its services will be funded.

The budget must also take account of new cost-pressures as well as making sure all its services are as efficient as possible.

Northumberland County Council continues to be committed to the things that are important to our residents, such as investment in our schools and leisure centres, free parking in our town centres and we’ve just opened the Northumberland Line in the south, connecting us once again to transport links in Newcastle – opening up more opportunities. In 2024 we also welcomed the investment of a new data centre – again, creating opportunities and helping to put Northumberland on the map as a place to live, work, invest and visit.

You can read more details on the budget plans here

The Council’s budget setting process is happening now and residents’ views are vital ahead of key decisions being taken.

This consultation runs for six weeks until 28th January 2025, with the Budget due to go before Full Council in February 2025.
