Consultation for Alnwick STEM Hub (a vision of Metrology Software Products LTD).
Overview
Advance Northumberland is developing a feasibility study to assess the potential of establishing a STEM Hub in Alnwick. Current plans for the STEM Hub are based on the FabLab concept, providing workshop space for schools, individuals, clubs and community groups to access to explore and learn about different emerging technologies, such as 3D printing, satellite technology and artificial intelligence.
The STEM hub would be focused on supporting the development of skills in areas that local employers find valuable for recruitment, fostering enthusiasm for STEM subjects and creating linkages between the activities at the Hub and careers available to young people locally. Furthermore, the STEM Hub would also potentially provide young residents with a space to utilise outside of school hours to invent, create and design, and turn ideas into reality.
Why your views matter
This consultation has been distributed across Northumberland schools to gather views on the need for such a facility and to understand the key skills and technologies upon which the STEM Hub/Fab Lab should focus.
