Consultation - Formalising Specialist Support Bases
Overview
Northumberland County Council is seeking your views on a proposal to formalise (make permanent) the Specialist Support Bases which have been operating at Cambois Primary, Newsham Primary, Northburn Primary and Seaton Sluice First Schools. The bases were set up initially on a temporary basis to address the growing need to create additional specialist support for students in the county, while at the same time enabling them to remain within or as close to their own communities as possible.
The bases have proved to be extremely successful in supporting students with additional needs to receive their education close to home. Northumberland County Council are now proposing to make these bases permanent by following a formal, statutory process to establish them as SEND (special educational needs) Units.
Why your views matter
As a parent/carer, member of staff or a member of the community, you may feel you have a view on these proposals and therefore this consultation offers you the opportunity to have your say and to submit your views for consideration by the Council before any decisions on whether or not to make the changes permanent are made.
Thank you for responding to this consultation and the Council look forward to reading your comments.
