Northumberland Autism Strategy (Draft Version) - Have Your Say
Overview
Northumberland County Council and the NHS in Northumberland want to hear people's views on our ideas for a strategy for autistic people of all ages in Northumberland. The strategy aims to improve services and support for autistic people.
The draft strategy can be downloaded here:

We want to hear the views of lots of different people:
- Autistic people
- Families and carers
- Staff working with autistic people,
The final strategy will set out what our objectives are, including:
- improving early diagnosis and assessment of autism,
- increasing the availability of support for autistic adults
- and improving training for staff working with autistic people.
The strategy looks at the key areas from the National Autism Strategy, and what people have told us are important:
- Improve people's understanding of autism
- Make it easier to get an education and support people as they become adults.
- Support more people into work
- Tackle health and care inequality
- Build the right support in the community
- Improve support in the justice system
