Regent Street Improvements - Energising Blyth Consultation 2026

Overview

Energising Blyth

This project is part of the £95m Energising Blyth Regeneration Programme to grow, renew and connect the town.  The programme is delivered by Northumberland County Council with funding support from UK Government, Northumberland County Council and the North East Combined Authority.

The project

Northumberland County Council is bringing forward proposals to improve Regent Street in Blyth as part of wider investment in transport and public spaces across the town.

The scheme aims to create a more welcoming, accessible and attractive high street environment that supports local businesses and makes it easier for people to walk, wheel and cycle into the town centre.

This consultation provides an opportunity for residents, businesses, stakeholders and other interested parties to review the latest proposals and provide feedback before the scheme progresses further.

The proposals aim to:

  • upgrade access to the high street to make it easier to walk, wheel and cycle to shops and local businesses
  • enhance the quality, feel and safety of the shopping area to encourage people to support local businesses

We welcome your feedback on the proposals and encourage you to review the scheme information and drawings before completing the consultation survey questions.

Why your views matter

Have your say on the design proposals to improve walking, wheeling and cycling access for Regent Street, as well enhancing the quality, feel and safety of the shopping area to encourage people to support local businesses.
